One of my favorites is Heat bar. It used to be a funky hiphop bar when I first started going but earlier this year it had a slick winebar revamp. Its classy and has space for large groups. The drinks are basically all 500 yen, bar staff are friendly and atmosphere is good.

Walk along kawaramachi towards sanjo on the right side of the street, you'll see a big shidax kareoke sign on the opposite side, turn right down the little alley and walk 25 meters. Heat is on your right (B1f).

There is a 200Y moonwalk bar on the top floor of that complex too if you want to predrink somewhere cheap.

Anyone know any niceish bars?  I'm needing to occasionally upgrade from Abar and Ing.

Subtle have you been to Hatch?  I much prefer it to Ing (and you already know my feelings regarding A-Bar).  It's kinda loungey, but it's sometimes full...  =/

Anyway, it's in the next building over from Ing...look for the sign with the bee on it, head up in the elevator, and it's right there.  =D

Ace Cafe. It's on Kiyamachi south of Oike on the 10th floor I think....there's a sign out front. It has a great view of the river and the Sanjo bridge. A little pricier than Ing/A-bar, but not outrageous.

Is this fine sounding Hatch establishment north or south of the ING building, poshlust?

Ace Cafe has the finest view you don't really have too pay much for.

I suppose the New Tagh's has it too, but Ace Cafe usually is Fat Drunken Mick Free, so that's a plus.

er...I actually don't remember if it's north or south....I think the two buildings sandwich a kebab shop though...

Hatch also has another, bigger bar called Modern towards Oike near Ace Cafe!  Uhm...i think it's actually in the same building...maybe?  I need to get out more...
